![]() Nashville, Tennessee (I had some misplaced files on the hard drive, some of which I quite liked. Sorry for being somewhat out of order. I'd name the picture for the folks in the painting, but I'm entirely sure who they all are. The center guy is a rapper, right?) Some great pictures from elsewhere that I've viewed this week: 1. December 6th at Color Orange or (here for a large version). I had a short conversation with someone this week about 'style'. I've never had a defined style, but since our talk I think I'm drawn to three things: (1) Simple compositions, (2) Pictures of people with character *or* regular people in an environment that relates to them, (3) and pictures that are moody. Mark does a very good job with compositions that I'd tend to call abstracts and often presenting them in a simple, very effective composition. Very good work there. 2. Tread had a nice photograph of geese that is striking. Not taken with a Holga or toy camera this time, but with a regular film camera, cheap film, and a filter taped on the lens. Right up there with me taking pictures through my sunglasses 3. Still on the subject of birds, Brian Butler over at Panhandlin' had a great shot right out of Hitchock. 4. You can count on JKirlin to give you a chuckle, often in the comments and regularly in his pictures. This one is a stunning photograph. . Good job. 5. Alec Long had a great snowfall picture called First Snow, both simple and moody for the holiday season. Comment (1) | Permalink |
