![]() Greenbo Lake State Resort Park Greenup County, Kentucky The above picture is Mark Pennington, a pool store owner and a good friend and neighbor who had accompanied me on some business one morning this month. I've been a fan of Gary Gladstone and his style of photography in his book Passing Gas. In this book, Gary located towns with odd names where he would scout to find both a site and a resident that had a lot of personality and character. Within the book are short one page stories about the town, the person, and the photography shoot itself. I believe you'd find it quite interesting. After I completed my business, Mark and I stopped off at the park for lunch and to look for some winter pictures. He agreed to be my model for this style of portraiture that includes sticking a wide angle lens right up in the face of the subject, something that brings about quite a different reaction from folks than using a 100mm lens. In the above picture, Mark is giving me the 'State Trooper look', which imitates a couple of the pictures in the book. The outtakes can be found HERE. Comment (1) | Permalink |
