![]() Ironton, Ohio About 70% of 4x6 referrals are from search-engines with folks using the simple phrase '4x6'. During the fall of the year, there's a spike of people looking at the granddaddy longlegs picture (I know, it's a mystery to me too), but the cement factory inquiries are some that constantly show up year around. Usually the person is using the search string 'haunted cement factory', which tells you what they're interested in. So I thought I'd bring in the New Year with another picture from the plant. This view, I believe, is of a portion of the structure called the packhouse. I like the shot because of the vines and the shutters, but still find it fascinating because of the legends associated with the whole plant. Supposedly, the mine shafts went down hundreds of feet and were sealed off because of water infiltration, leaving behind big trucks and equipment. This tale has been repeated my whole entire life, even saying that the mine shafts tunneled under the Ohio River and perhaps under the towns & cities in Kentucky. I don't know if any of the tales are true, especially the part about the tunnels reaching to Kentucky. I believe the haunted tale was started after a tragic accident that claimed some lives just prior to the plant being shut down. The plant is over 100 years old (or parts of it anyway) and has some deep rooted history in the community. I'll try to dig out some other pictures of it a little later. May you have a Happy New Year.
