![]() Cincinnati, Ohio This is the walkway on one of the bridges that connects the Kentucky side to the Cincinnati side of the Ohio River. When you get across, there's a really nice riverside park, the ballpark for the Reds, an arena, and the National Underground Railroad Museum. We hadn't intended to visit the museum on this day, but the heat drove us to look for something cool to do and we're sure glad that we did. The museum is something that you ought to see, a real top notch place to visit. After entering, you're given a small handheld radio and each display has a tag with a number on it. Punch the number into your handheld unit and place it near your ear to hear the commentary. I believe there were 3 floors of displays, all done up in the highest quality with theatrical lighting and lots of care in detail. I walked away with a greater appreciation of the problem, how it occurred, the way that slavery commerce occurred here in Kentucky, the culture of everyone involved, and of course the politics of it all. Allow the whole day when you go. Comment (5) | Permalink |
