Highlands Museum & Discovery Center

Winchester Avenue
Ashland, Kentucky

Welcome to August, I hate to see it roll around. We spent some time at the Pendleton Art Center this evening and everyone is hard at working preparing for the First Friday Art Walk tonight. Winchester Avenue will be closed and the event will include live music by the Genuine Junk Band, which has quite a following around here.

After the Pendleton, we strolled through downtown and I made the above photograph just before 9pm. Rick Lee gives a good tip for photographing buildings when he says to capture the scene at dusk and right before dark, however I was a bit later than that and it would have worked out a lot better if one would remember to bring the tripod and not have to use ISO 1600. Click here to see an interior photograph that I made in March during a walk-about-town with Dave Roark.

The photo is also posted at Tri-State Daily Photo, which is a collaborative website between some photography friends in the Huntington-Ironton-Ashland area. Have a good weekend!
