The Clock at the Union Terminal

Cincinnati, Ohio

I'm even more out of order than usual, but I wanted to post some photographs that came back from that cheap film camera that I bought. This is the clock that hangs on the face of the Union Terminal museum complex not far from downtown Cincinnati. I've photographed and written about the terminal last year, so some of this is a repeat. The terminal was built as a large passenger train hub and after passenger rail traffic was taken over by airlines and automobiles, the building regressed into being a shopping mall and finally was refurbished into the museum complex. I've met a few folks who remember shopping in the terminal when it was a clothing store. So, I guess everyone has a different idea of what this building means to them, but for me I can't help but think of soldiers leaving home for WWII by filing through the terminal to catch the trains. At the same time, I think of kids that were like my father who caught the train and traveled a few hours to see the Reds play baseball. The building must have been an exciting place.
