Boyd County, Kentucky

This is from about a week ago, it's taken awhile for the softness to grow on me. I think the eyes expect something sharp and vibrant, so it takes a bit of readjustment.

My son and I were out on the morning after Thanksgiving and spied this scene from far away. I like the soft colors and the frost.

Back a decade ago, there was only one working full-time farm in the county. I would guess that there are none left now. There are lots and lots of farms where the folks work hard at it. Each morning, though, somebody goes off to work at the steel mill in order to keep the major-medical insurance intact.
