4x6photo.com | Top Ten Shots: #9, Electric Meters | 28 June, 2005

#9 of the Top 10 for the last year. Electric Meters was a picture that shouted at me while I was sitting at a red light while in a small town in West Virginia. The light was longer than normal and I started looking around and there was the scene. Count the electric meters and you get an idea of how many folks are living in this downtown building. In my area, downtowns used to be deserted on the weekends. More and more, though, they have once again become people-places because of renovation of the older spaces into residences.

By the way, this was shot with a Panasonic FZ20 digicam, which is a great camera for in-car shooting with a Leica designed lens that stretches from 36 to 432mm . If you don't mind looking like a tourist with a digicam, you'd love this camera for street scenes. In non-tourist areas, everyone thinks you are a lawyer or private-investigator, but I haven't had any problems yet. :)

(Note: The end of the first year for 4x6 is nearing. I've posted over 300 pictures, which even surprises me. Many thanks for all the encouragement, advice, arguments, and comments. I'll be posting some of my favorite shots, along with comments, from now until July 8th, which is the one year mark. I've selected 3 runners-up and the top 10. Feel free to tell me what the picture makes you feel, good or bad. That's what it's all about. )
