Yellow Leaf, Oldtown Kentucky

Oldtown, Kentucky

20 years isn't as long as it used to be. I find myself taking a 'leaf' picture just about every season. What makes this one different than the others? About 21 years ago, I stood on this very spot while walking around the yard with the new owner. He was regretting that the new place didn't have trees like his old yard. Then, it seems, he was regretting that he was too old to plant new ones. I gave him some encouragement, saying that in 5 years- where would he be? In a yard without trees, so it would be best to get started. He did and the trees are as large as the house now. In a twist, he gave me the same advice 15 years later. People make their mark in many ways, so this leaf served to bring up a memory of someone who is no longer with us.

On this day in 1992, a fireball streaked across the United States. I didn't see it, but many people did including groups of people in stadiums and on the street. It was caught on video and eventually ended up smashing into the trunk of some fellow's Chevy.

Life has a lot of twists and turns to it, so I think I'll take up playing the lottery :) As always, thanks for visiting.
