Carter Caves State Resort Park
Carter County, Kentucky

This is one of the long abandoned lifeguard chairs found at the small Carter Caves lake.  The swimming area was in operation during the 1950s, along with a boat dock that rented paddle boats.  I've inherited photos from an aunt that shows young and smiling girls visiting the beach and having fun.  Photographs are our form of time travel, though we are the ones in the future.  On most days you'll have it to yourself with the exception of an occasional fisherman or a young couple looking for solitude themselves.
