We talk a lot about story telling through pictures, I'm not so sure about it.  I heard recently, I think it was in the Fred Lyon movie, where he said (and I paraphrase) that most people doing street photography (in the general sense, not in the portrait sense) don't make photos, they take photos because they catch a snippet of life, a frame that represents just a fraction of a moment.  I think that ignores the fact that the photo, even if shared, probably is most important to the photographer who took it because it preserves the story that isn't shown in the picture.  Friends out on a driving trip looking for photographs, an older fellow who gets about town on a bike, and a story about lawn mower and bicycle thieves.
