We were down at the city park for a meal not long ago and I rephotographed this scene from 6 years ago.  A recent conversation came up:  why do we still have the flood walls since the network of river dams might have lowered the risk or at least the amount of possible damage?  One person said the towns would wash away and be ruined.  I said maybe a number of the towns are ruined anyway because of the floodwall blocking the main and perhaps only attraction they have going for them.  It's an interesting question, I'd like to know if any town has decided to tear out the wall and what happened afterwards.
